Jordan peacekeeping personnel in Darfur receive medals

Ammon News - Khartoum- Jordanian peace-keeping force participating within the hybrid United Nations-African Union (UN-AU) peacekeeping forces in Darfur in southern Sudan held a special ceremomy to present medals to some officers and members of the unit.

The ceremony was held in the city of El Fasher, capital of North Darfur region in presence of Jordanian Ambassador to Sudan Munther Qabba'a and a delegation from Jordan's Public Security Directorate (PSD) led by PSD Assistant Director, Brigadier Ibrahim Shubaki.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of North Darfur and representative of the UN Secretary-General and commander of the international forces operating in Darfur.

International and Sudanese officials hailed the humanitarian role undertaken by the Jordanian forces in Darfur with high efficiency and professionalism.

There are two Jordanian battalions from the Public Security and the Gendarmerie forces operating within the UN-AU troops in Darfur.
