Irbid exports up 20pct in June

Ammon News - Exports by the Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) amounted to USD140 million last June against USD116 million in the same month of 2021, signaling an increase of 20 percent.

Al Hassan Industrial Estate exported USD131 million, followed by Cyber City with USD6.7 million, while the remaining exports came from other industrial zones in the northern governorate, according to an ICI statement released Sunday.

The textile and leather sector maintained a leading position in the sector-based exports, with USD130 million, followed by the foodstuffs products by USD2.9 million, the medical industries sector with USD2.7 million, the statement added.

The United States imported the biggest share of Irbid's exports with 73 percent of total exports, followed by the European Union countries and Arab countries, while the remaining exports were distributed to Canada, southeast Asia, and a number of other countries.

The ICI Chairman Hani Abu Hassan said Irbid's exports in the first half of 2022 went up by 33.7 percent to JD675 million against JD505 million in the same period of 2021.
