Legal Affairs Minister receives French envoy, NDI regional director

Ammon News - Minister of State for Legal Affairs, Wafa Bani Mustafa, on Tuesday received France's Ambassador to Jordan Véronique Vouland-Aneini.

The meeting touched upon common challenges facing women all over the world due to the Covid-19 pandemic, such as job loss, increased caring work and the increase in domestic violence.

Bani Mustafa, who is also Head of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women Empowerment, stressed the importance of preparing future generations to engage in political, partisan and democratic work and invest in their energies.

She lauded the role of the Education Ministry, which is currently developing a civic education curriculum to inform students of the importance of participation in political and democratic life.

The French envoy underlined the importance of cooperating with Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women Empowerment to learn about work priorities and to explore ways of cooperation.

She also stressed the importance of working to create the necessary training and an appropriate environment to empower women economically and to increase their involvement in jobs, especially as the French government is working on a number of projects in this regard.

She underscored the importance of directing support to the local community and educating women in remote areas about their rights.

On the other hand, Bani Mustafa met with Regional Director of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Leslie Campbell.

The meeting dealt with future cooperation on empowering women in partisan work and the importance of encouraging future generations to engage in public work.

The two sides discussed key challenges facing women's political participation, especially the necessity of empowering them economically ccording to the economic modernization vision to enable them to run for elections and participate in public life.
