Heatwave to subside on Sunday

Ammon News - The prevailing heatwave is forecast to gradually taper off on Sunday, with a slight drop in temperatures but remaining above annual average, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said.

The weather will be relatively hot in the high areas and hot elsewhere, with northwesterly moderate winds, picking up at times and stirring dust in the Badia.

A tangible drop in temperatures is forecast on Monday, becoming 3 degrees below the annual average, and bringing moderate weather conditions countrywide. At night, cooler conditions will prevail in the mountainous areas, while it will be pleasant in most regions.

Similar weather will persist on Tuesday despite a slight rise in mercury levels, with moderate weather reigning across the country, while it will stay hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

Today, mercury in Amman is expected to range between a high of 33 degrees Celsius, dropping to 16C at night, meanwhile, the port city of Aqaba will see a scorching 41C, dipping to 24 during night hours.
