India: Two killed in protests following ruling party members anti-Islam statements

Ammon News - Indian health officials Saturday said two people were killed and scores injured after Indians took to the streets to protest remarks made by members of the governing party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against Prophet Mohammad.

Press Trust of India (PTI) cited a health official as saying two protestors were admitted to a hospital in the aftermath of widespread protests in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Friday, but they were soon announced dead.

Thousands of Muslims took to the street across India after the Muslim Friday sermon yesterday to protest the inflammatory remarks made by officials of the country's ruling party, demanding they are held accountable.

Local sources reported the BJP had decided to suspend Nupur Sharma, a spokesperson for the party, following her inflammatory remarks.
