Adel Bilbeisi, health adviser at the prime minister's office and the official in charge of the COVID-19 crisis, Sunday said that the 19th epidemiological week of 2022 (7-15 May) saw 305 Covid-19 cases, compared to 84 infections a week earlier, an increase of 72 percent.
In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on the weekly coronavirus statistics, Bilbeisi said that no deaths from the virus were recorded in the 19th week for the second week in a row.
The number of PCR tests conducted during the 19th week amounted to 20,329, compared to 7,787 tests during the previous week, constituting a 62-percent increase, he pointed out.
Meanwhile, the number of cases currently receiving treatment in the Kingdom's hospitals reached 8, an 11-percent drop from 9 hospitalizations in the previous week, he said.
In addition, Belbisi noted percentage of positive tests last week went up to 1.5%, compared to 1.1% during the 18th epidemiological week, constituting a 36-percent drop.
The number of Jordan's active cases over the past week reached 227, a figure nearly four times higher from the 54 infections reported during the 18th week, he pointed out.
Regarding the anti-Covid-19 vaccine doses, he noted number of first jab recipients during the 19th week reached 9,430, compared to 779 during the previous week, while the second doses given hit 8,271 compared to 724. The third doses administered during the 19th week stood at 3,660 compared to 379, while the number of jabs administered during the 19th week hit 21,361, compared to 1,865 during the 18th week.
A total of 4,770,339, were administered during the 19th week, constituting a 75% of the target group of 18 years and over, while the overall second doses reached 4,490,704, marking a 70% of the same target category, and the tally of the third doses reached 653,180, he noted.
