UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashimy, on Tuesday summoned the Israel's ambassador to Abu Dhabi, Amir Hayek, and expressed the UAE's strong protest and condemnation of the Israeli aggressions taking place in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al Hashimy told the Israeli ambassador that attacks on civilians and raids into holy places, which left hundreds of civilians injured, must stop.
She called for an immediate cessation of these practices, providing full protection for worshipers, respecting the right of Palestinians to practice their religious rites and stopping any practices that violate the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, expressing concern over the escalation of tension that threatens stability and security in the region.
She also underlined the need to respect the Kingdom's role as the custodian of Jerusalem's holy sites and Awqaf in accordance with international law and the existing historical status quo, and not to violate the authority of the Jerusalem Awqaf Department and Aqsa Affairs Department.
Al Hashimy also called for creating an appropriate environment that would allow a return to serious negotiations leading to achieving a just and comprehensive peace, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
