State Security Court hands 2 men 20-year prison sentences for smuggling illegal narcotics

Ammon News - The State Security Court (SSC) on Sunday sentenced two men to 20 years in prison after convicting them both of smuggling and transporting illegal narcotics to Jordan.

The court also ordered the defendants to pay JD20,000 in fines, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Both defendants, accompanied by a group of people, coming from Syria, attempted to smuggle 1,361,000 Captagon pills and 2,490 Lyrica substances to the Kingdom.

Border guards clashed with the smugglers, the defendants were arrested and six escaped into the Syrian territory, while three others died, Petra added.
