Ammon News -

The Lower House Saturday inveighed against the Israeli recent episode of assaults in Al Aqsa Mosque and on Palestinian worshippers.

The legislature said the Israeli assaults against Islamic and Christian sanctities, as well as worshippers, constitute a "flagrant" transgression against the Al Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan - a holy month within Islam - and a provocation of the feelings of Muslims.

It urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in protecting the Al Aqsa Mosque and peaceful worshippers, demanding it takes prompt action to bring an end to the repeated Israeli violations against Palestinians and to force Israel to conform to international law in its capacity as an occupying power.

It warned the escalation could destabilise the region and undermine the prospects of realising comprehensive peace.
