Health minister meets WHO officials in Cairo; signs cooperation agreement

Ammon News - Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Hawari, held a series of meetings during his visit to the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean in Cairo during the past two days, to discuss support for Jordan's health sector.

In a Ministry of Health statement Wednesday, Hawari is also scheduled to meet Regional Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Ahmed Al Mandhari, and a regional office team to discuss ways of cooperation to develop the Kingdom's health sector.

These talks are held, in the context of the Seventy-fifth World Health Assembly meetings, to be held in Geneva, Switzerland on May 22-28, and the Jordanian delegation's contribution to the WHO decision-making body's discussions, the statement said.

In addition, Hawari signed the cooperation frameworks of the Ministry of Health and Jordan WHO office, as the two sides went over ways to enhance WHO's support for the Kingdom's health sector.
