Ammon News - The Jordan Exporters Association (JEA), in cooperation and with the support of the Ministry of Investment, is organizing the Kingdom's participation in the SIAL Canada 2022- "Inspire Food Business" in its 17th edition, which will open on March 20 in Montreal.

According to a JEA statement on Saturday, 12 major industrial companies specialized in the field of foodstuffs and healthy dietary products will represent Jordan in the fair.

The JEA head, Ahmed Khudari, said the event represents an opportunity for Jordanian companies to get acquainted with new trading partners across the world and open "fresh promising" markets.

This plan applies to countries, with which Jordan is linked by free trade agreements (FTA), especially Canada, by benefiting from the FTA that entered into force in 2012, he noted.

SIAL Canada 2022 is a key international exhibition specialized in the food industries in North America, he said, adding that 750 businesses from 50 countries will participate to display food products and related service industry.

In the two days preceding the fair's beginning, the JEA will organize an integrated marketing program for the participating Jordanian companies on the Canadian market and their trade opportunities, in cooperation with the Trade Facilitation Office (TFO) Canada, according to Khudari.

The program, he noted, will also focus on promoting Jordanian companies and their products to Canadian importers at TFO's social media platforms, holding separate talks for each company with Canadian importers, and organizing visits to learn about Canadian market.

Noting gov't efforts, Ministry of Investment plays a "key" role in supporting the Jordanian product and ensuring its presence at global markets by supporting external marketing activities and paying part of the financial costs resulting from industrial companies' foreign participation, said its Secretary-General, Zaher Qatarneh, in press remarks.

The ministry, Qatarneh noted, is "keen" on opening markets for national products, raising the exports volume and facilitating efforts to network Jordanian industrial companies with their counterparts from different countries across the world.

The ministry, in cooperation with the Jordan Exporters Association, will provide "appropriate" support to Jordanian companies participating in the SIAL Canada 2022, according to Qatarneh.

The Canadian market, he noted, is "promising" for Jordanian products and a gateway to the US and international markets, pointing to the participation of more than 50 countries in the food show.

Meanwhile, JEA Director General, Halim Abu Rahma, said the association is organizing Jordan's participation in the three-day trade event, for the 11th consecutive time, due to its "remarkable" importance in promoting the Kingdom's food industry, which has achieved "very high" levels of quality and competitiveness in export markets.

Jordanian pavilion's size reaches 108 square meters, and 4 companies owned by businesswomen will participate for the first time in the fair, he noted.

The Kingdom's exports to Canada rose during 2021, to JD50 million, compared to JD44 million in 2020.
