Hawatmeh, Australian Police official discuss cooperation

Ammon News - Director General of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) Maj. Gen. Hussain Hawatmeh Monday welcomed Australian Federal Police Assistant Commissioner International Command Mike Pannet to discuss prospects for enhancing cooperation in policing, security and training domains.

Hawatmeh pointed to the "long and fruitful" cooperation between the PSD and Australian police, which had a positive outcome in the exchange of policing, security and training expertise, noting the visit aims to open broader prospects for cooperation in the fields of training and combatting cross-border crime.

He said the PSD pursues an updated policing strategy that is open to the world as it seeks to elevate the capacity and efficiency of its personnel through the exchange of expertise and providing them with up-to-date policing technologies and know-how.

For his part, Pennett commended the level achieved by the PSD and its constant endeavour to upgrade the performance of police in various fields, stressing keenness to expand bilateral cooperation and transfer expertise in the fields of training and combating cross-border crime.
