Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Monday called 12 members of Jordanian embassies stationed at border crossings between Ukraine and neighbouring countries Romania, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary to facilitate the evacuation of Jordanians from Ukraine.

During the phone calls, Safadi stressed that the security and safety of Jordanians is an urgent priority and called on the embassy staff to provide all assistance to Jordanians crossing from Ukraine, including consular services, documents and other facilities for the journey back home.

He thanked the embassy personnel, who headed to the border posts after the start of military operations in Ukraine, expressing his appreciation for their "tireless efforts" in coordination with the ministry's Crisis Cell and Jordanian embassies in Ankara, Bucharest, Berlin, Vienna and Moscow.

Since the start of the Russian military campaign, more than 1,059 Jordanian citizens and their families have crossed the borders from Ukraine to neighbouring countries, where they were handled by Foreign Ministry representatives at the border posts. So far, 265 Jordanians arrived back home and more than 40 were expected to return from Warsaw this evening.
