Public Security Directorate (PSD) Chief, Major Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, stressed the "high" preparedness of all PSD's personnel, seen in its units' role-related coordination, in a manner that provides rapid response and capability to intervene in all ordinary or emergency tasks.
Speaking at his visit Sunday, to Irbid Governorate Police Department, he said the PSD, with all its formations, completed all operational and logistical preparations aimed at preserving the citizens' rights and protecting the electoral process scheduled to be held in March 22.
The PSD will continue to provide its security and humanitarian services with "impartiality and integrity" to maintain rule of law countrywide, he noted.
In addition, Hawatmeh stressed the need to prevent any activities that may harm the conduct of elections, or the society's security, such as the phenomenon of festive firing, which is "a crime and a disregard for other people's life," adding that PSD will harness its capabilities to bring those offenders to justice.
As a top priority, he said police departments countrywide will implement the operational plans targeting the electoral process, with the gendarmerie forces' support to prevent any infringement or violation of the law.
Hawatmeh highlighted the PSD's role in enabling citizens to exercise their electoral right " smoothly," in cooperation and coordination with official authorities, in line with legislation and instructions in place, adding that the directorate will "firmly counter any violation of law and public order, without any complacency or discrimination."
Hawatmeh directed the PSD units to continue making efforts aimed at serving citizens at social and security-related levels, sparing their time and effort.
The directorate's role seeks to provide logistical support and train its personnel, which is the basis for improving performance in all areas, especially in fighting crime and promoting the society's security and tranquility, according to Hawatmeh.
