House delegation briefed on foreign ministry's evacuation efforts to Jordanians from Ukraine

Ammon News - A Lower House delegation, headed by MP Khaldoun Haina, Chairman of the LH Foreign Affairs Committee, was briefed on Operation Room Crisis Cell's efforts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs.

Receiving the LH delegation, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, briefed the lawmakers on the developments of Ukraine's crisis since its beginning and the procedures, arrangements and efforts undertaken by the ministry in this regard.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Haitham Abu Al Foul, briefed the MPs on its measures, in coordination with the relevant Jordanian institutions in dealing with Ukraine's crisis and its developments, maintaining contact with Jordanians and helping ensure their security and safety.

Abu Foul reviewed the efforts of embassies and diplomatic staff at Ukraine's border crossings with Ukraine in Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, and the procedures and necessary services provided to Jordanians, who arrived there, primarily issuing documents, securing buses and appropriate accommodation in preparation for their departure to the Kingdom.

To date, Abu Foul said the number of Jordanians, who crossed the borders from Ukraine, with help from the ministry's staff at the crossings, reached 636, while 232 were given facilitations to travel home to the Kingdom.

Military evacuation aircrafts flew to Romania and Hungary under Royal directives and evacuated 140 citizens and their families, and a number of Palestinians, he pointed out.

Referring to the difficulties and challenges facing Jordanians, he noted the ministry is in continued contact to update citizens on the latest developments related to the crisis in Ukraine and continues to issue related warnings.

MP Haina, for his part, thanked the ministry for its "close" efforts made to follow up on the situation of Jordanians in Ukraine, and provide them with all forms of support and services.
