Jordan records 11,254 new COVID-19 cases, 31 deaths

Ammon News - The Ministry of Health said Monday that it recorded 31 coronavirus deaths and 11,254 cases, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 13,713 and the caseload to 1,582,161.

According to the ministry's daily media brief, 21.55 percent of 52,222 PCR tests taken today came back positive, adding that currently active Covid-19 cases topped 153,017 with 187 admitted today to hospitals, raising hospitalizations to 1,032. Some 202 cases left hospitals today, it pointed out.

On hospitals' capacity, the daily figures showed that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was at 20%, intensive care beds 33% and respirators 15%.

In the central region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 25%, intensive care beds 39% and respirators 18%, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 16%, intensive care beds 18% and respirators 11%, it said.

It also said 14,048 Covid-19 patients have recovered, bringing total recoveries expected after the 14-day isolation period to 1,415,431.

On vaccinations, the ministry said that 4,665,379 people have taken the first dose of the coronavirus vaccines and 4,341,355 have been double-jabbed.
