PM begins official visit to Cairo ahead of joint committee meeting

Ammon News - Prime Minister Bishr Khasawneh on Sunday began an official visit to Egypt, during which he will co-chair, with his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly, the meetings of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.

During a meeting, Khasawneh and Madbouly discussed ties and means of enhancing joint cooperation in all fields, especially the economic, trade, industrial and investment areas, and boosting cooperation between the two countries' private sectors, especially in the transport field.

They stressed the importance of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, which lays the groundwork for cementing cooperation, enhancing economic and trade integration and establishing large-scale projects that will reflect positively on the three countries and their peoples.

On the tourism front, the meeting tackled means to increase tourism cooperation between Jordan and Egypt and link the tourist sites between the two countries, namely Aqaba and Taba. Khasawneh and Madbouly also underscored the importance of cooperation in the fields of transportation, culture and media and upscaling electrical interconnection between the two countries.

The meeting reviewed the latest regional developments, issues of common interest and ways of strengthening and coordinating the two countries' stances towards these issues.
