Ammon News - "The Palestinian cause is our first priority cause, and a just and comprehensive solution must be reached for it based on decisions of international legitimacy that affirm the inalienable and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people," said Lower House Speaker, Abdul Karim Dughmi.

Dughmi gave his remarks in a speech at the fourth meeting of the Arab Parliament and speakers and presidents of Arab councils and parliaments on Saturday, at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.

Chairing the Kingdom’s delegation in the meeting, Dughmi reaffirmed the rejection of settlement policies and plans and any harm to the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem), under the custodianship of His Majesty King Abdullah, the custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, a custodianship that enjoys religious and historical legitimacy.

He underlined the Jordanian stance represented in the establishment of a Palestinian state on the pre-June 4, 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and the two-state solution as a stable and irreplaceable basis.

He pointed out that the Kingdom has, in decades, been a refuge for Arabs from Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Libya, while feeling their pain and sharing capabilities and resources despite their scarcity, stressing the importance of joint Arab action to confront Arab challenges and crises.

"The critical circumstances that our Arab world is going through today grant the conference an exceptional importance as a key venue for intensifying official Arab and parliamentary efforts to crystallize a unified Arab vision that aims to overcome internal and external challenges, calling for reconsidering the state of the nation and firmly standing to formulate an Arab renaissance project based on ties that unite Arabs and Muslims.

Dughmi called for setting up aligned visions on reaching comprehensive, political and sustainable solutions to crises in Syrian, Yemen, Libya and other Arab countries.
