McDonald's fans say Chicken Big Mac could be improved by removing item 'no one needs'

Ammon News - McDonald's have launched their new take on the iconic Big Mac Burger in the form of a Chicken Big Mac and fans of the fast-food chain have a lot of thoughts about it.

The McDonald's Chicken Big Mac Burger has finally landed in the UK, and it's fair to say that it has some pretty big buns to fill.

The classic Big Mac has been a staple of the Maccies menu since 1968, with those two iconic beef patties seeing loyal customers through countless hangovers, Friday nights in, and bad days at work.

It's therefore somewhat unsurprising that, after breathless anticipation leading up to the launch, McDonald's fans have been sharing their thoughts about the Chicken Big Mac Burger and whether or not it could ever live up to the instantly recognisable flavours of the OG.

Many reviews have so far been pretty positive, with various happy customers hailing it in turn as "a triumph", " a banger", and the "best thing since sliced bread".

One particularly enamoured Instagram user wrote: "I’ve been waiting for this day for so long that when my boyfriend suggested having the new Chicken Big Mac for dinner, of course, I wasn’t going to say no, It’s a solid 10/10 for me. It tastes incredible and needed to become a permanent addition to the menu".

However, some have noted that it's quite a "messy burger", with one person tweeting: "chicken big mac is v delicious. but the chicken burgers are not the right shape for that stack. Absolute chaos eating it. All layers sliding".

Another gave the "glorified mayo chicken" meal a so-so 6/10 ranking, remarking that their initial hesitations of the meal "being a little dry" do still stand, with the burger "needing something extra to give it flavour and moisture".

In a bid to combat said dryness - and in a move which could well help those grappling with the aforementioned sliding layers - one TikToker has advised their followers to "dash the dry top bun", emphasising "no one needs that in their lives".

In a video that has since been viewed more than 13.2K times at the time of writing, TikTok user Laura Crawford could be seen removing the seeded top bun before flipping the middle bun on top.

Laura has declared the hack to be "the best way to eat the Chicken Big Mac", and plenty of her followers are certainly interested in giving it a go. One even suggested replacing the top bun with a layer of fries, which may well be a step too far for some Maccies purists.

Of course, numerous inevitable comparisons have been made to the beef Big Mac, with one "huge fan" asserting that "ya don’t f*ck about with a classic".

Others have argued that Big Mac sauce is much more suited towards beef than chicken, with one tweeting that it "overpowers the chicken a bit". Another reflected that the burger "would be better with the original McChicken sandwich Mayo in instead of the Big Mac sauce".

However, in his recent review, the Mirror's Kyle O'Sullivan found that the sauce went very nicely indeed with the burger, writing: "Just like any Big Mac, the first thing you taste is that creamy special sauce and it works incredibly well with the chicken. I was concerned about the Chicken Big Mac being too dry but to my surprise, it was moist enough and lashings of sauce were a bonus".

Those keen to form their own opinions on the burger everyone is talking about will need to get down to their local drive-thru sharpish, with the temporary item only making a fleeting appearance on the menu up until March 15.
