Ammon News - Aqaba Port revenue rose by JD66 million in 2021, about 4 per cent up compared to 2020, and the number of travelers at the passenger terminal soared to a quarter of a million, with an increase of 17 per cent, General Manager of the Aqaba Company for Ports Operation and Management Khaled Al Maaytah said.

He said in press remarks that the increase is an indication that Aqaba Port is on the road to recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, noting that the volume of handling at the port reached 15 million tons of various food commodities, livestock and vehicles.

However, he pointed to a decline in container handling due to surging global shipping fares.
