Ammon News - Saturday will see a very cold weather, with showers of rain forecast occasionally in the Kingdom's northern and central regions and some southwestern areas, with the possibility of light snow flurries for a short period over southern hilltops, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

During night hours, the downpour gradually intensifies in the Kingdom's northern and central areas, which may be sometimes accompanied by thunder with westerly active winds that causes dust in the desert areas, the JMD added.

In its report, the JMD warns of the danger of slippery roads in areas experiencing rainfall, and the risk of low horizontal visibility due to the formation of fog, especially over highlands and dust in desert areas, as well as torrential rains during night in valleys and low-lying areas in the Kingdom's northern and central regions.

According to the JMD, Sunday's weather will be very cold, cloudy and rainy almost countrywide with heavy downpour at intervals, accompanied by thunder and hail, which lead to formation of torrential downpour in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea region, with snow flurries forecast in hilltops.

Snow will accumulate to a limited extent over the high southern hilltops of Al Shara, the JMD noted, adding that downfall will stop during late night hour and frost and freezing are formed in many areas countrywide.

Also on Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures in eastern Amman will range from 9 Celsius degrees to 4C during night, while highs in western Amman will be 7C and lows at 2C. The Gulf of Aqaba will see a fair 19C, dropping to 11C at night hours.
