South Korea records first two Omicron deaths

Ammon News - South Korea announced Monday the first two deaths caused by the Omicron variant.

The South Korea news agency (Yonhab) said Seoul probably recorded the first two deaths due to the new Covid-19 variant, noting that the two are in their nineties and the infections were confirmed after they had passed away.

Health authorities in Gwangju are still trying to know the specific death cause, it added.

In a statement, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said the Covid-19 caseload reached 503,606, while the Omicron caseload stood at 63 and total deaths at 4,130.
