Ammon News - The percentage of passengers who have received two shots of a COVID-19 vaccine and arrived in October through Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) increased to 65 per cent, Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) Chief Commissioner Captain Haitham Misto said on Sunday.

Misto told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the percentage stood at 55 per cent in September and 45 per cent in August.

He expected the percentage to increase in November, stressing that higher percentages contribute to curbing the spread of COVID-19 and grant passengers a safe journey into the Kingdom.

As for aircraft movement to and from the airport during October, he said it decreased by 3 per cent to 5,146 flights, adding that this is expected and reciprocates the pattern of previous years.

The total aircraft movements at the airport since the beginning of the year stood at 36,685 flights, connecting the Kingdom to 63 international destinations.

On the other hand, the chief commissioner said that passenger numbers in October also dropped by 3 per cent to some 542,000 compared with September, noting that a total of 3.620 million passengers have travelled through QAIA since the beginning of the year.

Misto said that daily flights in October totalled 166 arrivals and departures, compared with 48 in the same month of 2020 and 211 for the same month in 2019.
