Issawi signs phase 3 of Jothoor project, opens public parks in Karak

Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, on Saturday has signed an agreement to implement the third phase of the Jothoor "Roots" project to plant 3,000 dunums with forest and fruit trees in the Al-Sunaina area at the Al-Qasr District in the Karak Governorate, southern Jordan.

Issawi also opened royal initiatives projects that have been implemented in the Karak Governorate.

The signing of the Jothoor project agreement comes in response to His Majesty King Abdullah's continuous directives to increase green areas and preserve forests, by focusing on forestry projects. The first and second phases of the Jothoor project, which is the largest forestry project at the national level since the early seventies, were implemented,
through royal initiatives.

Under the project, which is one of the projects of the royal initiatives implemented in the Karak Governorate (Al-Qasr District / Al-Sunina), approximately 327,000 forest and fruitful trees were planted in the first phase, while the second phase was implemented through the "Al-Haq" Corporation initially, by planting about 367,000 forest and fruit trees, as the total area of the first and second phases amounted to 19,500 dunums.

Issawi said that His Majesty the King places as his to priority the achievement of sustainable development in a manner that meets the aspirations and hopes of Jordanian people, who are the focus, goal and purpose of the development process, and the distribution of development gains fairly across all regions of the Kingdom to achieve development balance in targeted regions.

He indicated that the royal initiatives came as a true translation of His Majesty's wise visions in empowering citizens, providing them with a decent livelihood, enhancing their role and investing their energies in serving local communities.

On a related matter, Issawi opened a public park in the New Moab area, which includes children’s play units, a five-a-side soccer playground, and other facilities, and the Jubilee Forest in the Qasabah al-Karak district was provided with sand and rubber games units, with high technical specifications to serve parents and children.

The parks projects are part of the royal initiatives, and were implemented in cooperation with the Zaha Cultural Center.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Kreishan, Minister of Labor Nayef Istitieh, Minister of Environment, Muawieh Radaideh, and the Director General of the Al-Haq Agricultural Corporation.
