Jordan, Palestine discuss cooperation in combating corruption

Ammon News - Chairman of the Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC), Muhannad Hijazi, reaffirmed that the JIACC is keen to provide technical and logistical support to the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission.

In a meeting held Wednesday with a delegation from the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission, Hijazi lauded the development and tangible activity of in the field of combating corruption in Palestine.

He said that meetings between the two sides enhance experience and knowledge and put the memoranda of understanding between them into practice.

Chairman of the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission, Raed Radwan, lauded the JIACC’s efforts in eliminating corruption and the technical and moral support, experiences and expertise that Jordan provides to Palestine, noting that Jordan has many experiences in fighting corruption in all its forms.

He spoke about the common vision in the world, especially Jordan, to create an encouraging environment to combat corruption practices, stressing that this task is participatory and does not fall solely on the shoulders of oversight bodies, but rather is a social responsibility.

JIACC vice chairman, Osama Muhaisen highlighted the commission's mission, vision, objectives and mandates and organizational structure as well as the updated national strategy 2017-2025, which included many programs and projects, and a mechanism for dealing with corruption and grievance issues, in addition to some recently established units.

For their part, members of the Palestinian delegation inquired on the mechanism of the JIACC’s work through coordination with the public administration in the Kingdom to prevent corruption, the mechanism of cooperation with the public sector, the internal communication between the JIACC's directorates, and the academic, scientific and legal qualities that a liaison officer should possess, in addition to the partnership with civil society institutions, the commitment of institutions to implement the protection system, as well as the mechanism of work of the technical unit and digital support.
