Ammon News - Jordan's trade deficit with the European Union countries picked up by 13.8 percent to JD1.716 billion in the January-August period of the current year, compared to JD1.507 billion in the same period of last year, Jordan News Agency Petra reported.
National exports' value to EU countries during the first 8 months of 2021 hiked to JD131 million, or 33 percent, compared to JD98.5 million last year, according to foreign trade data issued Thursday by the Department of Statistics (DoS).
In addition, the value of EU countries' imports rose by 15 percent in the first 8 months of the current year to JD1.847 billion, compared to JD1.606 billion during the same period of last year, according to Petra.
The DoS data indicated that Holland took the lion's share of Jordanian exports to EU countries in the January-August period of the current year, reaching JD28 million, while Germany tops the list of countries that Jordan imports from, with around JD358 million worth of imports.
