Agreement on cooperation between Jordanian companies, fund for reconstruction of affected areas in Iraq

Ammon News - Minister of Public Works and Housing, Yahya Kisbi and his accompanying Jordanian delegation on Wednesday met in Baghdad with President of the Reconstruction Fund for Areas Affected by Terroristic Operations (REFAATO) in Iraq, Mohammad Hashim Al-Ani, Jordan News Agency Petra reported.

Both officials agreed on the mechanism and framing cooperation between the REFAATO and Jordanian companies within the housing, construction and contracting sectors.

Kisbi pointed out that the Iraqi government's measures and the meetings he held during the visit will contribute to stimulating Jordanian companies specialized in reconstruction and construction, stressing that Jordanian companies will not hesitate to provide any service or effort in order to rebuild Iraq, according to Petra.

He said the economic partnership between the two countries will promote cooperation at various levels, especially since it comes in line with the outcomes of the recent trilateral summit in Baghdad.

Al-Ani underlined the importance of partnership with Jordan, lauding efforts of both governments to enhance cooperation, which positively reflects on the reconstruction of Iraq.

He said Iraq has strong ties with Jordan and that the floor is ready for Jordanian companies to participate in the reconstruction process, stressing that his country is ready to develop firm plans and that its doors are open to Jordan.

Al-Ani exxplained that the REFAATO's projects focus on the damage caused by the terrorist and military operations that took place and caused the destruction of infrastructure and services, especially as the fund seeks to speed up the reconstruction process, commending the efficiency of Jordanian companies and their expertise in the field of buildings, construction and infrastructure.

On the sidelines of the visit, the Jordanian delegation toured a number of projects in Baghdad, including the Baghdad Gate Investment Project, the largest housing project, which includes 52 residential towers.

Jordanian and Iraqi contractors have been coordinated to work on a partnership to complete work and finishes in the residential towers and to benefit from the expertise of investors in the Jordanian construction sector.
