Ammon News - Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah, Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh participated in the opening of the special meeting of the World Economic Forum, which began its work this Sunday morning, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center (KAICC) in Riyadh, under the patronage of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The two-day meeting, with the participation of leaders, officials and experts from various countries of the world, will discuss various global economic issues and developments, with the aim of finding common solutions and confronting humanitarian, climate and economic challenges.
The meeting will witness many dialogues and discussion sessions aimed at strengthening international cooperation efforts and stimulating joint efforts to innovate sustainable solutions.
The sessions of the special meeting revolve around a number of important topics, including: international cooperation, growth, and energy for development, in order to confront various current economic and geopolitical challenges, in addition to promoting new partnerships.
Khasawneh will participate in a special session on Monday, as part of the forum’s work on the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of the Strip, in which Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, will also participate.
During the forum's activities, The Prime Minister will also meet with political and economic leaders participating in the forum's work.
Borge Brende, president of the World Economic Forum stressed during the opening session the importance of holding this meeting during a critical period of time that has negatively affected regional and international cooperation and many geopolitical challenges, including the situation in Gaza, as well as the presence of 111 million people in a state of displacement in the world.
Brende pointed out that one of the most prominent global challenges is how to deliver energy and electricity to about 800 million people in the world.
