Cabinet approves MoU to support tourism flow in Wadi Rum tourist attractions

Ammon News - A Cabinet session, chaired by Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, on Wednesday approved a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MTA) and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), to grant ASEZA the power to license and monitor tourist camps located outside of Wadi Rum Nature Reserve (Al-Disah area), Jordan News Agency Petra reported.

The MoU aims to coordinate efforts, simplify procedures, support investment, raise level of tourist services provided in the Wadi Rum site and outside, and unify the gov't authority in managing Wadi Rum Nature Reserve's adjacent areas, according to Petra.

On the other hand, the Cabinet approved the recommendations of the settlement and conciliation committee, related to settling pending cases of 1,017 companies and taxpayers, who had obligations in accordance with the provisions of the Income Tax Law and the General Sales Tax Law.

The Council of Ministers, moreover, approved the committee’s recommendations to reconsider pending cases between taxpayers (or violators) and the Jordan Customs Department and settle 14 cases, provided these taxpayers or violators pay all the remaining dues or fees and taxes or costs within two months from the issuance of this decision.
