Dutch embassy delegation visits NARC

Ammon News - A delegation from the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has visited the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) to discuss prospects for cooperation and enhance joint work opportunities between the Netherlands and Jordan in the agricultural sector through NARC and the executive arms of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The delegation included Dr. Melle Leenstra, the Agricultural Counselor to Egypt and Jordan, Eng. Rania Al-Zoubi and Eng. Suha Al-Bitar.

Dr. Nizar Haddad, the Director General of NARC, briefed the guests about NARC, during which he reviewed a number of NARC's achievements and research in several areas, most importantly hydroponics, non-traditional water, agricultural maps, sustainable agriculture, training and capacity building.

In this context, the Agricultural Counselor to Egypt and Jordan, Dr. Leenstra, stated that this visit comes within the framework of his visit to the Kingdom.

During his meeting with experts and researchers of NARC, Dr. Leenstra expressed his admiration for the bilateral relationship that binds the two countries, especially through cooperation with the Wageningen University of the Netherlands, ensuring the full support of the Government of the Netherlands to these efforts with the need to resort to smart solutions that serve the future of agriculture taking into account the agricultural diversity and interdependence of different sectors.

The visit included a tour in which the visiting delegation was briefed on the facilities and laboratories of NARC, in addition to a number of pioneering projects in the Agricultural Innovation Incubator, and some success stories within Farmer Field Schools.
