Ammon News - The Senate's Legal Committee, headed by Ahmed Tabishat, approved on Sunday, the draft amending the Illicit Gains Law, as referred by the Lower House.
The panel okayed the bill during its meeting, attended by Minister of Justice, Ahmed Ziyadat and Minister of State for Legal Affairs, Mahmoud Kharabsheh, and a group of legal experts.
In its mandating reasons, the draft comes in in line with the United United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) ratified by Jordan and the litigation of perpetrators of illegitimate gain, to include any "abnormal" increase or growth that occurs on any public official's wealth.
The draft law also creates an e-record of financial disclosure statements and enables Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC) to access their contents, which would then establish its independent database for the purposes of verifying any abnormal growth in wealth for employees subject to provisions of the law.
Under the amendments, the draft obligates employees under its umbrella to submit electronic and paper disclosures and entrusts the judicial body to be launched accordingly to audit and verify the submitted statements.
