The Taliban movement on Sunday announced that it entered the Afghan capital of Kabul, without a fight, and that its fighters succeeded in securing police stations, Kabul University and the Ministry of Education.
President Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan for Tajikistan, leaving power to the Taliban, whose arrival in Kabul is a complete military victory after taking control of most of the vital Afghan cities within less than ten days.
The movement is preparing to return to power, after 20 years of being excluded from power by force by a coalition led by the United States of America because of its refusal to hand over Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, following the September 11 attacks in 2001.
Afghan Interior Minister Abdul Sattar Mirzakwal called on Afghans not to worry, noting that a "peaceful transition of power to a transitional government" would take place.
The movement wants a peaceful transfer of power "in the coming days", within an inclusive Islamic government, which means that all Afghans will be represented in this government, Taliban spokesman, Suhail Shaheen, said in press statements.
