Education Ministry

Ammon News - Jordan's Education Council decided on Wednesday, to launch a committee to develop the General Secondary Certificate Examination (Tawjihi), headed by Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, which brings under its umbrella experts and specialists in educational and educational affairs.

Chairing the council’s meeting today, Minister of Education, Dr. Mohammad Abu Qadis, said the newly-announced panel is entrusted to carry out a "real and fundamental" development process for the Tawjihi exam based on a scientific study, in a way that fulfils ambitions to improve this high school exam.

Abu Qadis said the step to enhance Tawjihi exam stems from the Royal vision to develop Jordan's education, based on the ministry's belief in the need to keep pace with its comprehensive development processes in various fields.

The decision, he noted, also seeks to reach an exam that would help students focus on their future specializations, and "alleviate the psychological pressure and tension on all involved parties."

"Tawjihi" exam development comes to meet needs of Jordan's educational system to keep abreast of all global developments, the minister told the panel.

Abu Qadis expressed confidence in capability of the newly-formed panel to develop the high school exam with the participation of all educational stakeholders in public education, higher education sector, the legislative authority, and civil society institutions.
