Ammon News - Temperatures on Tuesday will be 3-4 degrees above their annual average during this time of the year, as the country continues to be influenced by a hot, dry heatwave, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The weather will be relatively hot in the hilly areas, hot in the plains and the Badia region and scorching in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with clouds at medium and high altitudes and northwesterly moderate to brisk winds.

The JMD warned people against direct exposure to sunlight during peak hours from noon to 3pm, and of low visibility caused by dust-laden winds in the Badia.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the impact of the heatwave will intensify with mercury levels climbing up to 5-6 degrees above their annual average, bringing torrid weather conditions in most regions, while the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba are set to swelter in blistering weather with temperatures breaking into the 42 degrees vicinity, the JMD added.

The weather department indicated that the impact of the sizzling weather conditions will start to ease off by Friday.

Today, the maximum and minimum temperatures in Amman will range between 36 Celsius degrees and 27 degrees at night, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a searing 42 degrees, dropping to 30 degrees during night hours.
