Jordanian student transfers renewable energy

Ammon News -

A Jordanian student at the University of California in the United States, has succeeded in alleviating the suffering of the poor at Jordan’s camps.

Rashid Khlifat told Petra that the idea came from the roofs of houses in the camps since all of them were made of Zinco.

Made of Zinco, Khlifat said, the roofs can be changed to thermal insulated solar roofs, adding that the decision came after studying the roofs in Gaza refugee camp.

Zinco is not a soundproofing nor thermally insulating material, Khlifat said, therefor such houses will be hot in the summer and very cold in the winter.

Khlifat said that he along with a group of his colleagues at the university have worked on developing roofs that contain insulating material with the use of solar panels, adding that a house in the camp was chosen to implement the study by changing the roof and using an insulating roof, as well as installing solar panels to generate electricity.
