Ammon News - Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Jordan Office and the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Wednesday announced the commencement of the implementation of the project for the “Establishment of Criminal Investigation Data Management System of Jordan Public Security Directorate (PSD) Based on Big Data Technology/6.25M” by signing the record of discussion.

To support PSD’s role to protect lives and properties and prevent crimes to achieve an advanced level of community safety and social and economic well-being, this project came to life with the support of the Korean government, a KOIC statement said.

The project will establish an extensive data analytics system to enhance PSD’s criminal investigation capabilities and crime prevention tactics to increase safety and security in Jordan.

The Korean National Police Agency will co-partner with the PSD to share its successful experience operating a similar system, “GeoPros”.

The data analytics system will help the PSD collect and analyse data through digitally connecting the PSD’s existing systems, instead of the current method of manual data analysis.

The PSD will also be equipped with a system that can analyse and collect enormous amounts of data to help predict crimes before they occur, the statement said.

This partnership between KOICA and the PSD will yield great benefits and will pave the way for future cooperation in the safety and security sector, read the statement.

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is a governmental agency that implements Official Development Assistance in 112 countries. KOICA has contributed to the socio-economic development of Jordan through various development programmes since 1991 with a budget of over $100 million, according to the statement.
