Ammon News - Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) yesterday issued the following statement:

“I greatly appreciated the opportunity to meet in Washington with King Abdullah II of Jordan. We discussed global and regional developments and the efforts of the Kingdom to achieve job-rich inclusive growth, preserve macroeconomic stability, and protect the poor, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. In this regard, I commended Jordan on its strong performance under the IMF-supported reform program, despite challenging circumstances.

“I also congratulated Jordan for its successful and inclusive national vaccination program that also covers refugees. Continued donor support remains crucial to help Jordan’s reform efforts as well as to shoulder the disproportionate burden in hosting 1.3 million Syrian refugees.”
