Mamon Al-Adwan - His Majesty King Abdullah will meet the president of the United States of America Joe Biden in Washington today Monday.
His Majesty King Abdullah will be the first Arab leader to meet Biden since he became the U.S. president.
His Majesty, on the visit, will be accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and HRH Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince.
According to several reports, the meeting will discuss the strategic relations between Jordan and United States of America. The meeting will also show full support of Jordan who is a key U.S. ally in the region and recognise the Hashemites’ special role in East Jerusalem. Other issues are likely to be addressed including Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the situation in Syria as Jordan hosts nearly 1 million refugees, and neighboring Iraq.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that “It will be an opportunity to discuss the many challenges facing the Middle East and showcase Jordan’s leadership role in promoting peace and stability in the region”.
Psaki added that Jordan is “a key security partner and ally of the United States”.
His Majesty King Abdullah will have a working breakfast with Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday at the vice president's residence. He will meet Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the State Department on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
