Hot spell to grip Jordan Saturday-JMD

Ammon News - Hot, dry spell will envelope Jordan Saturday, and mercury will rise slightly. The weather will be hot in the highlands and plains, and scorching in the Badia, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba regions, Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

During the three-day heatwave, the JMD warns of the danger of direct exposure to sunlight at noon.

According to the report, effect of the scorcher will intensify on Sunday, and the temperatures will continue to soar to record about (5-6) degrees Celsius above their seasonal average.

As for Monday, mercury will continue to rise slightly with blistering weather conditions countrywide, the JMD bulletin forecast.

Also on Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures in Amman will range between 36Celsius degrees, dipping to 24C at night, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a blistering 42C, dropping to 30C during night hours.
