240 fines imposed this month for flouting defence orders

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and other government entities enforcing defence orders on safety and preventive health requirements related to the coronavirus, issued 240 fines since the start of the month of July, according to a ministry statement.

It said 26 establishments were fined and 14 others were suspended for not adhering to the labour protocol, while 124 workers in a number of establishments were ticketed for not wearing masks.

Other establishments that were found in violation of the defence orders were cafes serving argileh (water pipe), restaurants, clothes shops, supermarkets and vegetable markets.
