Ammon News - His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Monday congratulated young Jordanian tennis player Abdullah Shelbayeh for advancing all the way to the junior doubles final with Spaniard Daniel Rincon at Wimbledon, one of the world's four grand slams.
The Crown Prince called Shelbayeh after his participation in the Wimbledon championship, commending his "great performance and outstanding results" in one of the major international championships.
Shelbayeh said he was happy with the phone call, noting the Crown Prince's interest in the achievement, which "will have a great impact toward more achievements." He also thanked the Jordanian people for their support.
The 17-year-old Shelbayeh made four straight victories at Wimbledon to reach the final with Spaniard Rincon, which ended in favor of duo Alejandro Manzanera of Spain and Lithuanian Edas Butvilas
Shelbaya became the first Jordanian to qualify for a grand slam after he contested in the Roland Garros in May.
Shelbaya, who has a career high junior ranking of 41, has trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain for 3 years and is listed as one of the best players in the academy for his recent achievements.
