Industry minister stresses keenness on supporting commercial sector in Zarqa

Ammon News - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Maha Ali, said the ministry is keen on supporting the commercial sector in Zarqa Governorate, enhance its competitiveness, and help it increase its export capabilities to foreign markets.

In a meeting with President and members of the Zarqa Chamber of Commerce, the minister lauded the commercial sector's role in supporting the national economy and its contribution to raising the Kingdom's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and increasing commercial exports.

The minister indicated that all Zarqa Chamber of Commerce notes submitted during the visit will be followed up and studied in coordination with relevant government entities.

President of the Zarqa Chamber of Commerce, Hussein Shreim, said field communication with economic sectors aims to identify issues they face and find solutions that contribute to improving the economic situation.

Shreim called for developing work mechanisms that revive the economy and stimulate sectors, especially after the implementation of the government plan phases to open the sectors and reaching a safe summer, stressing the importance of the partnership between the public and private sectors in this field.

Meeting attendees called for reducing taxes and customs duties on goods, and expanding the list of goods imported from Syria, which would reduce shipping costs and save time for goods to reach markets.

They demanded finding solutions to closing and stopping the vital commercial market on the Zarqa highway due to the start the fourth phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The minister and the accompanying delegation also met with the Director of the Companies Control Department in Zarqa, Haitham Shamayleh, and were briefed on the progress of work in the department.
