Ammon News - Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Thursday visited the Jaber Border Center and Al-Hassan Industrial Estate (HIE) in the northern city of Irbid, as part of his field tours to the Kingdom's various regions.
During the visit, the Prime Minister inspected public and vital facilities, took a first-hand look at the progress of development, productivity, tourism and sanitation projects, in implementation of royal directives to intensify fieldwork, improve the quality of services provided to citizens and to stimulate investment.
Khasawneh began his visit, accompanied by a number of ministers, by conducting a field tour at the Jaber center to see closely the level of services provided to citizens and visitors, and the procedures for the movement of freight and goods at the border crossing between Jordan and Syria.
Prime Minister stressed that the movement at the Jaber Border Center should be smooth, directing the minister of interior to stop “back-to-back” system as soon as possible without affecting health measures as this will make the movement smooth.
With regards to traveler’s platform, Prime Minister said that the government is capable of dealing with more than 150 passengers daily, demanding that the number should reach at 500 passengers per day.
He indicated that there are no reasons now that may prevent Jordanians to cross Jaber Border crossing, directing officials to start allowing citizens to leave through Jaber Border crossing point.
The prime minister will also visit the HIE, which is the largest qualified industrial city in the Kingdom, attracting more than 154 industrial companies with an investment volume exceeding JD489.5 million and a workforce of nearly 36,000.
