Prime Minister Bisher Khasawnen on Tuesday stressed that the delivery of speedy and quality public services is a government responsibility and that service recipients are entitled to have their issues resolved and queries addressed away from stifling bureaucracy.

The prime minister made the remarks during a visit to the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) in downtown Amman and a meeting with Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh and top municipal officials. The premier commended GAM's digitization drive which, he said, will accelerate the delivery of service in one of the nation's most visited public entities.

Khasawneh indicated that GAM is a main stakeholder in the Kingdom's efforts to lure in foreign investments, emphasizing that new projects and businesses are critical to address poverty and unemployment.

The premier also underlined the need to ensure that violations and encroachment on public spaces must be addressed appropriately and according to the law.

Mayor Shawarbeh briefed the prime minister about current digitization and infrastructure projects and future plans, indicating that the digitization drive helped remove more than 350 "bureaucratic" processes.

With regard to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, Shawarbeh revealed that the project infrastructure will be ready for operation by the end of the current year.
