Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), in coordination with the concerned authorities, denied entry of an inbound consignment of 1,946 refrigerated head of sheep with a total weight of 29,218 tons, for violating the JFDA's requirements and instructions.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the JFDA's Director General, Nizar Mheidat, said the shipment was denied entry to the local market after its contents were inspected by the JFDA's specialized teams upon its arrival at the air cargo center at Queen Alia International Airport.
The JFDA's monitoring teams deployed in all customs centers and border crossings countrywide, are making "qualitative" efforts to ensure the safety and quality of all foodstuff consignments coming to the Kingdom, he said.
This effort, he noted, eyes compliance of imported deliveries with health standards and requirements, in coordination with the Customs Department and relevant official authorities, to ensure the citizens' health and safety are protected.
