Ammon News -

Mamon Al-Adwan - The chairperson of the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System (RCMPS), Samir Rifai on Tuesday held a press conference to discuss the mechanism and duties of the committee.

During the press conference, Rifai said that “the work of the committee is governed by the royal letter and its content to develop and modernise Jordan”.

“our responsibility is to draft consensual laws which guarantee the gradual transition towards achieving future aims and goals”, saying that there will be new election and political parties laws, Rifai added.

He also said that the committee wants strong political parties at the lower House, indicating that political parties have gained only 5% of Jordanian votes in previous elections.

The committee will not be affected by any influences or interventions and it has not had any ready draft laws, stressing that the committee is the first one in which His Majesty King Abdullah guarantees that its decisions will be applied, adding that the recommendations of the committe will be available before the 10th of October, he said.
