Jordan records 9 COVID-19 fatalities, 672 new cases on Sunday

Ministry of Health announced 9 Covid-19 fatalities and 672 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 9, 452 and the caseload to 735, 811.


The new infections comprised 292 cases in the capital, Amman, 85 in Zarqa, 67 in Irbid, including 9 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 43 in Karak, 31 in Ma'an, including 6 in the southern region of Petra, 30 in Madaba, 28 in Ajloun, 24 in Mafraq, 24 in Tafileh, 20 in Jerash, 14 in Balqa, and 14 in Aqaba, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
The statement added that there are currently 11, 657 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.


The number of hospitalizations today stood at 83, while 59 patients have recovered and discharged, the statement noted.


According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded on Sunday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 1, 104, bringing the total to 714,702 since the outbreak began.


Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 626.


The statement also indicated that occupancy of the ICU bed capacity has hit 27%, 23%, and 9%, in the northern, central, and southern regions, respectively.
With regard to testing, 15,346 tests were conducted Sunday, 4.38 percent of which were positive.


Since March, 2020, the total number of tests administered has increased to 7,260,489, the joint statement noted.
