Ammon News - The National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) on Saturday called for reconsidering labor laws in a way that contributes to providing legal and social protection for the nation’s workers and expanding coverage of small and micro businesses.

In a press release marking the International Workers' Day, the center called for increasing women's economic participation through fair wages, the right to paid vacations, providing nurseries for the children of female workers in the workplace, in addition to employing the disabled.

The Center also urged the government and concerned authorities to work to provide means of support and ensure equity for these groups in light of the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

It pointed out that this crisis and related lockdowns led to income loss for thousands of workers, especially those working in informal sectors, indicating that thousands of them have been subjected to arbitrary and unlawful measures and violations of their rights by some employers.

The NCHR also called for providing the necessary facilities for the industrial sectors, ensuring the creation of new job opportunities, and reducing the general tax on sales for national products to encourage demand and increase productivity.
