COVID kills 47 in Jordan, taking death toll to 8,707

COVID-19 killed 47 people in Jordan in the last 24 hours, as the death toll stands at 8,707, and a total of 1,815 cases were recorded, pushing the caseload to some 706,350, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Breaking down Tuesday's tally, the MoH said 689 cases were recorded in Amman, 429 in Irbid, 170 in Zarqa, 105 in Mafraq, 101 in Balqa, 54 in Karak, 47 in Tafilah, 47 in Jerash, 45 in Madaba, 44 in Maan, 43 in Ajloun and 41 in Aqaba.

The MoH said in a press statement that some 183 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals while 160 others were admitted, as the total number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals stands at 1,636.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom hovers around 22,436, it added.

More than 675,212 COVID-19 patients, including patients who had been self-isolating, have fully recovered so far.

Around 9.6 percent of the 18,850 COVID-19 tests that were conducted today came back positive.
