Media Minister meets JPA members

Ammon News - Minister of State for Media Affairs Sakher Dudin said Monday the government is keen to keep channels open with the Jordan Press Association (JPA) to tackle challenges facing the sector and set reform priorities in the coming stage within a participatory approach.

Dudin, who is also the official spokesperson of the government, emphasized during a meeting with JPA Council members the need to develop ways to acquire information and update media legislation to "address loopholes and keep abreast of advancements in the profession."

He also said the government is continually weighing up proposals to address the struggling print media in the Kingdom "in order to reach real participatory solutions to ensure their financial sustainability."

The minister stressed the importance of supporting media content in an "institutionalized and sustainable manner", and called for increasing training programmes for journalists and media graduates.
